1. What's so great about paper piecing?
Paper piecing has some very big advantages over traditional piecing. Because
you are sewing right on the lines of the paper piece, each of the seams
comes out beautifully straight and even. Seam allowances are always trimmed
down to ¼" so even the back is beautiful! Once all the seams
for a block or a unit (block part) have been sewn, it is then trimmed
down to the outside edge, which ensures every block or unit is exactly
the same size. This makes putting them together a breeze - no struggling
to make seams and edges match up.
2. Why make Chili Pepper patterns when I can get paper piecing
patterns from the internet for free?
Most paper piecing patterns have a number in each of the sections of
the pattern, but often you need to guess at how big of a piece of fabric
to use and how to line it up so that when you press the fabric open,
the whole section is covered. This can result in lots of "unsewing"
and numerous headaches! Chili Pepper patterns always provide the exact
fabric sizes to be cut for each piece of fabric you'll need. And, because
we number the lines instead of the sections, we can provide exact instructions
on how to line up the fabric pieces so it fits the very first time -
every time!
3. Will I need to photocopy the pieces to make a Chili Pepper
pattern?
No, our patterns always come with all the paper pieces you will need
to make the project, and there are always extra of every piece - just
in case! The paper that is included is a wonderful lightweight newsprint,
it's so much easier to work with and remove at the end.
4. I bought the pattern and made the quilt; now I want to make
it again but I've used up the paper pieces. Can I get more?
Yes, there are refill packs available for each pattern that contain
enough pattern sheets to make the project again. These packs don't contain
the instruction or the cover sheet with fabric yardages, just more pattern
pieces.
